13 cops dismissed in Layyah, 907 face disciplinary proceedings

As many as 13 police cops have been dismissed from service in Layyah district, while disciplinary proceedings have been initiated against 907 for various wrongdoings.

Through the Ardal Room proceedings, 907 police officials were issued show-cause notices.

Among them, 368 were awarded various punishments, while 622 cases involving minor negligence were filed and closed.

As many as 25 police officers received major penalties, and 327 received minor ones. Major punishments included dismissal from service for 13 officers and suspension with “close to line” orders for 4 others. Several other officers were subjected to administrative and departmental actions.

DPO Muhammad Ali Waseem stated that maintaining balance in the department is only possible through a firm system of reward and punishment. He added that officers showing exceptional performance are encouraged, while those displaying negligence are dealt with strictly to uphold discipline.

IG Punjab:

Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar continues to take initiatives for the welfare of the police force and their families. In continuation of these efforts, the department has spent more than Rs. 1.64 billion on police welfare during the current year. According to details shared by the spokesperson of Punjab Police, the department is spending over Rs. 10 million daily on the welfare of its employees and their families. It disbursed over Rs. 514.7 million as educational scholarships for the children of police personnel. Similarly, the department provided with Rs. 460.5 million as wedding gifts for the marriages of police employees’ daughters. It spent over Rs. 245 million  to assist with medical treatment facilities.

The spokesperson further added that department released over Rs. 220 million under retirement grants. While it provided with over Rs. 141.5 million to the families of police officials under subsistence allowance. Police department has given Rs. 50 million to families to cover funeral expenses. And it released more than Rs. 14.8 million as immediate financial assistance for the force. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that the income generated through the Police Welfare Fund and other welfare sources is being utilized to resolve the problems faced by the force and their families.
