Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved the launch of interest free loans for house expansion under the Apni Chhat Apna Ghar project.
She extended the facility to families living in joint households. Under the decision, residents of joint family homes will also be eligible to obtain interest free loans for expanding their houses. The chief minister has set a target of constructing 160,000 houses by June 2026.
She has also approved the allotment of 1,534 plots under the Apni Zameen Apna Ghar scheme. In the first phase, the provincial government will allot plots through balloting. It will conduct balloting for 194 in Jhelum, 129 in Kasur, 84 in Faisalabad and 59 in Lodhran. The chief minister directed authorities to ensure early balloting. And to take steps to enhance funding for the housing schemes.
Punjab Chief Minister has chaired a special meeting to review the disbursement of loans. And overall progress of the Apni Chhat Apna Ghar and Apni Zameen Apna Ghar projects. Housing Secretary and the Director General of PHATA briefed her about the projects.
Apni Chhat Apna Ghar, Apni Zameen Apna Ghar:
According to the briefing, the government has registered 1,880,081 users under the Apni Chhat Apna Ghar project. While it received 1,066,559 applications. The Punjab government said the people have completed a total of 67,197 houses. While, it added, 53,843 houses are under construction.
The government said it disbursed loans amounting to Rs164.66 billion under the scheme. It described the recovery rate 99 percent.
The chief minister directed the authorities ensure release of the second instalment of loans at the earliest. She ordered the formulation of a policy to address cases where a beneficiary passes away.
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has launched Punjab’s first honorarium card for imams. The provincial government will provide monthly financial support to over 66,000 registered imams across the province through the initiative.
Punjab CM hosted a ceremony to distribute honorarium cards to imams representing various districts of Punjab. The project, which will cost Rs20 billion annually, introduces a transparent digital payment mechanism ensuring direct transfers to beneficiaries.
