Authorities in Lahore have sealed Zenith, Meat Dukan and English Grammar School for violations.
Considered as largest halal meat exporter in Pakistan, Zenith has establishes hundreds of of branches in Lahore and other cities for fresh meat sale.
Established in 2011, Meat Dukan has dozens of outlets in Lahore for retail sale.
Authorities say they sealed the meat shops of famous brands in Punjab’s capital for illegal commercial use and non-payment of commercialisation fees.
The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) sealed 39 illegal commercial buildings during operations in LDA-controlled areas.
Operation:
LDA’s Town Planning Wing sealed 12 buildings on Canal Bank Road. The authority sealed 27 in Subzazar Housing Scheme and on Wahdat Road for illegal commercial use and nonpayment of commercialisation fees.
The sealed premises include Zenith, Meat Dukan, English Grammar School, Kanz-ul-Iman Beacon School. Shifa Medical Centre, Hassan Orthopaedic Hospital and Poly Clinic. LDA also closed down Brighto Paints outlet, stores of different brands, salon, grocery stores, food outlets, offices, and other businesses.
LDA Chief Town Planner I, Assad-uz-Zaman, and Director Zone-II, supervised the operations. The enforcement teams carried out the operation with the assistance of the Police.
LDA officials said they sent several notices to the owners of these buildings before carrying out the operations.
LDA Director General Tahir Farooq has appreciated the enforcement team. He directed the team continue indiscriminate operations against violations of the bylaws to facilitate the citizens. “Take action against land grabbers, encroachers and parking bylaws violators.” Tahir Farooq said the LDA will not make any compromise on illegal commercial buildings and commercialisation fee defaulters.
