Former skippers Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan have been ignored as the Men’s Selection Committee announced Pakistan squads for the upcoming T20I tri-series and Asia Cup.
Events will take place in the United Arab Emirates.
PCB’s Director High Performance Aqib Javed made the announcement during the press conference. He hoped the players will perform well during the tournament.”This is the same group that is playing,” said the former test cricketer and PCB coach.
He said the selection committee kept in mind the continuity. Our focus, he said, was on winning at the moment. For this, he added, the continuity was key. “The team is playing well in T20I.”.
On Salman Mirza’s inclusion in the squad, Aqib credited Mirza’s performance in Bangladesh. “Those who perform, will play.” He said Saim has improved his performance and Sahibzada Farhan has also made a comeback.
Salman Ali Agha will lead Pakistan both in the tri-series and the T20I Asia Cup. Tri-series fixtures will begin at 7 pm local time. The Tri-series final and all Asia Cup matches will commence at 6 pm local time.
Tri-Series, Asia Cup:
The tri-series, featuring Afghanistan, Pakistan and UAE, will begin at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on August 29. It will conclude on September 7.
The eight-team T20I Asia Cup will be played in Abu Dhabi and Dubai from September 9 to September 28. Pakistan are placed in Group ‘A’ alongside arch-rival India, Oman and UAE.
