Authorities in Lahore have sealed Chughtai Lab, Servaid Pharmacy, American Lycetuf and others for violations.
The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) sealed 68 businesses, including Chughtai Lab, Servaid Pharmacy, and American Lycetuf, which were operating in illegal commercial buildings.
The Lahore Development Authority’s Town Planning Wing sealed 25 illegal buildings in Gulberg, New Garden Town and Faisal Town. The LDA sealed 30 premises in Valencia Town during recovery operations. The LDA teams also sealed 13 buildings in Samanabad for illegal commercial use and nonpayment of commercialisation fees.
The sealed premises include Chughtai Lab, Servaid Pharmacy, American Lycetuf, Step Schools, JPS School System, Jahangir Skin Clinic, Am’s Aesthetic & Beauty Clinic, Hotel Royal Rose, JSolar, bakeries, a private hospital, workshops, food outlets, and other businesses.
LDA Chief Town Planner I, Assad-uz-Zaman, and Chief Town Planner II, Azhar Ali, supervised the operations. The enforcement teams carried out the operations with the assistance of the Police.
LDA spokesperson said they sent several notices to the owners of these buildings before carrying out the operations.
LDA Director General Tahir Farooq has directed continuing indiscriminate operations against violations of the building and parking bylaws, illegal commercial buildings and non-payment of commercialisation fees. He also directed action against encroachers and land grabbers.
Lahore Development Authority:
Created under LDA Act 1975, the Lahore Development Authority duly approved by Punjab Legislative Assembly. Previously it was working as Lahore Improvement Trust. Director General looks after overall affairs of the authority. It has three major wings namely , Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), Traffic Engineering and Transport Planning Agency (TEPA) and Urban Development. Managing Director (MD) supervises WASA while Chief Engineer looks after TEPA management.
The LDA’s Urban Development Wing (UDW) controls building affairs. It looks after the entire building regulations, including approvals of maps for commercial buildings and housing schemes. The UDW also works for rehabilitation of underdeveloped areas and slums in Lahore. A director is in-charge of the Urban Development wing.
