Imran Khan is Fine, Alhamdulillah, Says Dr. Uzma Khanum

“Imran Khan is perfectly fine, Alhamdulillah,” Dr. Uzma Khanum, sister of PTI founder Imran Khan, told reporters on Tuesday.

She made the statement after meeting the incarcerated former prime minister at Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi.

Her remarks came after authorities finally allowed one of Khan’s three sisters to meet him, following a ban of more than four weeks on family and party interactions.

During this period, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders and workers had staged sit-ins and protests outside the prison. They demanded that Khan be permitted to meet his family and key party members.

Rumours and speculation about Imran Khan’s health had intensified in recent days. It prompted concern among supporters and raising pressure on the authorities.

Uzma Khanum’s statement, therefore, brought relief to millions of supporters in Pakistan and abroad who have been anxiously waiting for credible updates on his condition.

Imran Khan, widely regarded as the most popular leader in the country, has now been in prison for more than two years.

Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Uzma Khanum said her brother appeared physically fine but visibly upset. Quoting Imran Khan, she said: “They are mentally torturing him. They keep him confined to his cell most of the time.” She added that Imran directly blamed the establishment for the treatment he is receiving in custody.

According to her, the meeting lasted only about 20 minutes, and she confirmed that Imran Khan has been kept largely isolated, with no communication allowed with anyone for several weeks.

Junaid Akbar Khan Media Talk:

Meanwhile, PTI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter president and MNA Junaid Akbar Khan spoke to reporters outside Adiala Jail, criticising the government for what he described as its complete lack of authority. He argued that the denial of meetings with Imran Khan reflected the government’s powerlessness.

“The government is as helpless as the PTI,” he said, insisting that real decision-making lies elsewhere. He claimed that the ruling coalition lacks public mandate and only came to power with the support of the establishment. “Those who brought them into power now expect them to obey,” he added.

Junaid Akbar further said that Imran Khan’s support base remains not only intact but is continuing to grow.
