A middle-aged woman has claimed that a jinn which she says takes control of her son-in-law has sexually assaulted her multiple times.
She made this surprising and superstitious claim a couple of days ago and recorded a police complaint.
A daily English reported the incident on Sunday. The incident occurred in Bhadar village of Punjab. The Kakrali police registered the FIR under section 376 (punishment for rape) of the Pakistan Penal Code. Media report quoting her stated that she accused a ‘djinn’ of taking over her son-in-law and forcing him to commit sexual assault.
Complainant age is 40 years while the accused son-in-law is 18-year-old. The woman claimed that the jinn name is Adil and he is in love with her.
She said her jinn-possessed son-in-law went out of control and only became normal after having sex with her.
She further reported in the FIR that the incidents destroyed her domestic life. The woman requested legal actions against the suspect. However, it does not appear in the FIR or media report that if the woman sought legal action against her son-in-law or jinn.
Jinn, Jinni, Jinniyah:
Reports regarding jinn or jinni or jinniyah criminal activities are common not only in Punjab but across Pakistan and India. People have been sharing stories of these supernatural being for centuries. But these stories become less common during past two, three decades with the advancement in technology and media. However, in rural background area and even in some elite circles these stories still appeard.
In September, the Lahore High Court summoned the senior police officials regarding the recovery of missing woman in Lahore. The media reported the event as it appeared a jinn kidnapped the missing woman missing six years ago. The police formed the special investigation team to find the reality.
The complainant in the case, Hameedan Bibi, the mother of the missing woman, made the claim that her daughter Fouzia had suddenly gone missing in May 2019. The mother quoted Fouzia’s in-laws claim regarding her abduction.
Police in Punjab’s city Gojra registered a case against a jinn healer in September 2022. The FIR stated that the “healer” raped a girl under the pretext of shooing away a jinn that had supposedly possessed the victim.
Police stated that victim came to the astana of the “spiritual healer” with her brother for prayer in a bid to cast away the jinn. However, the fake pir sexually assaulted her.
