Frank Caprio, considered nicest judge in the world, died on Monday. He was 88.
Caprio served as municipal judge in United States’ Rhode Island before retirement in 2023. He served bench for around four decades.
His father, Antonio Caprio, an Italian-American, worked as fruit peddler and milkman.
Caprio was born in the Italian-American neighbourhood of Federal Hill, Providence, in November 1936.
Frank Caprio has announced in December, 2023 that he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
He posted on Wednesday (August 20) on Facebook from his hospital bed in Providence. Thorough post, the Judge told his fans and followers about his health setback. He died next day.
“He was caring and loving,” posted thousands of people on social media as the news of his passing broke. Caprio himself found fame online.
People know and respect him for his kindness and compassion even during his service as judge.
Caprio’s judicial work “Caught in Providence” has 2.92 million subscribers on YouTube. His Facebook account attracts 3.4 million followers.
Caprio’s Facebook account read: “Judge Frank Caprio passed away peacefully at the age of 88 after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.”
It stated that Judge Caprio’s compassion, humility, and unwavering belief in the goodness of people touched the lives of millions through his work in the courtroom and beyond.
“His warmth, humour and kindness left an indelible mark on all who knew him. In his honour, may we each strive to bring a little more compassion into the world — just as he did every day.”
