Lahore, Islamabad, Pakistan Weather: More Rains Expected

More intermittent rains are expected in Lahore, Islamabad and parts of Pakistan on Sunday evening and night, as well as on Monday and Tuesday.

Isolated heavy falls are also expected in northeastern Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir during the ongoing 9th spell of this monsoon.

Synoptic Situation:

Monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea & the Bay of Bengal penetrate the upper and central parts of Pakistan. A westerly wave also affects the upper parts of the country, which will continue to persist till tomorrow.

Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) Forecast:

Met Office predicts more intermittent rain-wind/thundershower in Lahore, twin cities and parts of Punjab. In Kashmir and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It forecasts isolated heavy falls in northeastern/eastern Punjab And in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Kashmir.

PMD also predicts rain-wind/thundershower at isolated places in northeastern Balochistan, north/southeastern Sindh and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Impacts:

Significant rains may generate flash floods in local nullahs/streams of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. And in northeast Punjab, Kashmir and hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan.

Downpour may cause urban flooding in Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore. In Sialkot, Narowal, Peshawar, Nowshera and Mardan. Landslides/mudslides may cause road closures in the vulnerable areas of KP, Murree, Galiyat and Kashmir.

Expected Temperatures:

Lahore’s maximum temperatures will likely remain between 27°C and 29°C on Monday. And between 26°C and 28°C on Tuesday.

Islamabad’s maximum temperatures are expected to remain between 29°C and 31°C on Monday. And between 28°C and 30°C on Tuesday.

Intermittent rains with heavy falls occurred in Lahore, twin cities and parts of Pakistan during the last 24 hours.
