The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) retrieved state land worth over Rs400 million from land grabbers in LDA Avenue-I Housing Scheme on Friday.
Land grabbers were illegally occupying these plots for the last 21 years. They had erected boundary walls and gates and constructed rooms and sheds.
LDA teams demolished illegal constructions on 10 plots, each measuring one kanal, during a grand operation in LDA Avenue-I Housing Scheme.
Director LDA Avenue-I Housing Scheme, Sohaib Umar, supervised the operations, which were carried out by the enforcement teams with the help of the Police and heavy machinery.
LDA Director General Tahir Farooq visited the site and appreciated the teams for retrieving public property from land grabbers. He directed the carrying out of fencing, displaying boards and taking other necessary measures to save public land from land grabbers and encroachers. He also directed continuing indiscriminate operations against land grabbers, encroachments and violations of building bylaws across Lahore.
Meanwhile, during raids on September 21, Lahore authorities sealed Chughtai Lab, Servaid Pharmacy, American Lycetuf and others for violations.
The spokesperson for the the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) said the LDA sealed 68 businesses. They included Servaid Pharmacy, Chughtai Lab and American Lycetuf, which were operating in illegal commercial buildings.
“The Lahore Development Authority’s Town Planning Wing sealed 25 illegal buildings in Gulberg, New Garden Town and Faisal Town. The LDA sealed 30 premises in Valencia Town during recovery operations. The LDA teams also sealed 13 buildings in Samanabad for illegal commercial use and nonpayment of commercialisation fees.”
The sealed premises include Chughtai Lab, Servaid Pharmacy, American Lycetuf, Step Schools, JPS School System. Jahangir Skin Clinic, Am’s Aesthetic & Beauty Clinic, Hotel Royal Rose, JSolar. And bakeries, a private hospital, workshops, food outlets, and other businesses in provincial capital.
