Monsoon’s Ninth Spell To Begin in Pakistan on August 29

More monsoon rains with scattered heavy and at times hefty falls are predicted in Pakistan from Friday, August 29 onward.

The 9th spell of this monsoon will continue intermittently till September 02.

Synoptic Situation:

Strong monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea & the Bay of Bengal will start penetrating the upper parts of Pakistan from August 29. A westerly wave will also approach the upper and central parts of the country from August 30.

Pakistan Meteorological Department Forecast:

Under the influence of these meteorological conditions, Met office predicted widespread monsoon rains in Pakistan from August 29 onward.

Punjab/Islamabad:

Met office has predicted rain and wind/thundershower with scattered heavy and at times hefty falls in Islamabad/Rawalpindi. In Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum and Mandi Bahauddin. And in Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad and Lahore. It forecasted similar weather condition in Kasur, Sheikhupura, Sialkot. In Narowal, Mianwali, Khushab, Sargodha, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh. And in Nankana Sahib, Chiniot, Faisalabad and Sahiwal. Rain and wind/thundershower with isolated heavy falls predicted in D.G. Khan, Bhakkar. In Layyah, Multan, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Rajanpur and Rahimyar Khan.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa:

Met office predicted rain and wind/thundershower with scattered heavy and at times hefty falls in Dir, Chitral, Swat. In Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Buner and Malakand. And in Bajaur, Mohmand, Kohat, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Mardan, Swabi and Khyber. It predicts same weather in Orakzai, Kurram, Hangu, Karak, Bannu, Lakki Marwat. And in Waziristan, Tank and Dera Ismail Khan.

Kashmir/ Gilgit-Baltistan:

Met office predicted rain and wind/thundershower with scattered heavy and at times hefty falls in Neelum Valley. In Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh. And in Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber and Mirpur.

It says rains with isolated heavy falls may fall in Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche and Shigar from August 30 to September 01.

Sindh:

Rain and wind/thundershower are expected in Mithi, Tharparkar, Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Dadu and Umer Kot on 30th and 31st August.

Balochistan:

Rain and wind/thundershower with isolated heavy falls is expected in Barkhan, Musakhel, Loralai, Sibbi, Zhob, Kalat & Khuzdar from 30th August to 01st September.

Impacts and Advises:

Heavy rains may generate flash floods in local nullahs/streams of Kashmir, Murree, Galliyat, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, northeast Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Downpour may cause urban flooding in Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Peshawar, Nowshera and Mardan. Landslides/mudslides may cause road closures in the vulnerable hilly areas.
