Lahore Police have arrested another nephew of Imran Khan, Shershah Khan, just hours after taking Shahrez Khan into custody.
Both are sons of Aleema Khanum, sister of PTI founder chairman and incarcerated former prime minister Imran Khan.
However, Lahore police produced him before anti-terrorism court on Friday morning, seeking his physical remand. Police told the judge that Shahrez was arrested in connection with the May 9 Jinnah House attack. His lawyer, Advocate Salman Akram Raja, contested the claim, arguing that his client had never been named in the case. Raja called the arrest an act of harassment. But, the ATC judge granted police an eight-day physical remand.

Later, Salman Akram Raja, who also serves as secretary general of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) talked to journalists. He said police falsely implicated his client, vowing to fight for justice. He announced that they would approach every court against the arrest.
“Police arrested him [Shahrez] in fabricated case,” he said. Raja added that this was a message to the people of Pakistan that there was no law in the country.
Meanwhile, PTI leadership and supporters have strongly reacted to the arrests. They linked the arrests of Khan’s nephews to the establishment’s persistent efforts to force the jailed leader into submission. But, they reacted on X, Khan will never surrender.
On the other side, reports of a thaw between Imran Khan and military establishment faded after the arrests of his nephews. The reports were circulating after the Supreme Court’s verdict on Wednesday. The apex court granted Imran Khan bail in eight cases related to the May 9 riots. The former premier has been in Adiala Jail since August 2023 in multiple cases. PTI terms the cases politically motivated and fabricated.
