PTI has intensified demand for meeting between Imran Khan and his family.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s leaders raised the demand amid concerning reports about incarcerated party founder chairman Imran Khan’s health.
Unconfirmed reports say jail authorities took former prime minister Imran Khan to PIMS (Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences) for treatment.
PTI Chairman Gohar Ali Khan described the reports as concerning and distressing for the nation, the party and the family.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, he stressed that authorities must share clear information about Khan’s medical condition. “Which doctors were involved [in his treatment] and who took him [Khan] to hospital from Adiala Jail?”
Quoting reports, the PTI leaders said Imran Khan could be suffering from an ailment that, if left untreated, might lead to permanent damage to his eyesight and overall health.
Authorities have so far not informed us about the disease for which they took Khan to the hospital,” Gohar told journalists on Wednesday.
PTI Leaders Call for Meeting Between Imran Khan and Family:
He emphasised that authorities should not deny Khan’s access to family at least February 8. “His [Imran Khan] meeting with the family holds key importance. is very important. Let the meetings happen and do not deny them under any circumstances,” he urged the government.
Senate opposition leader Allama Raja Nasir Abbas echoed the urgency of transparency, calling the situation an injustice. He argued that the government’s refusal to inform relatives is eroding public trust. He reiterated PTI’s call for nationwide support of opposition protests ahead of February 8.
PTI Secretary-General Salman Akram Raja further criticised the solitary confinement of Imran Khan and his spouse, Bushra Bibi. He noted that authorities had denied regular visits to Adiala Jail— with Bushra last permitted to see her daughter in November 2025. He said legal petitions seeking access had been rejected by the Islamabad High Court, limiting the party’s ability to seek judicial relief.
