Punjab Collects Rs133 Billion Revenue through Digital Payments

The Punjab government has collected record tax revenue of over Rs133 billion through digital payments during the first four months of this fiscal year.

The online platform, e-Pay Punjab, developed by the Punjab Finance Department in collaboration with the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), has recorded over 14 million online transactions during this period.

The figures were shared during a progress review meeting presided over by PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf. The meeting apprised the participants that revenue collection through e-Pay Punjab included over Rs83 billion in Sales Tax, Rs10 billion in Property Tax, Rs9 billion in Motor Vehicle Registration, and Rs5 billion in Token Tax.

e-Pay Punjab:

Through e-Pay Punjab, citizens can conveniently make payments for 97 different taxes and levies of 23 government departments, eliminating the need for physical visits and reducing dependence on agents or intermediaries. To date, more than 7.1 million citizens have downloaded the e-Pay Punjab mobile application, reflecting the system’s growing popularity and public trust.

Speaking on the occasion, Faisal Yousaf said that e-Pay Punjab has made government payments simpler, more transparent, and secure, significantly contributing to revenue growth. He stated that PITB continues to upgrade the system to expand digital payment services and provide citizens with faster, more efficient facilities from the comfort of their homes.

Meanwhile, the Punjab government last month collected over Rs65 billion in taxes through digital payments. “E-Pay Punjab is a flagship online platform for the collection of government receipts.”

The number of online transactions through the system crossed the mark of 6 million during the first two months of FY2025-26. A review meeting highlighted the progress. PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf presided over. The management briefed the participants of the meeting that the trend of online payments by citizens continues to rise. They said 70,000 new downloads of the app reported during the said time period.
