Over 160,000 cusecs of waters are flowing through Ravi River near Shahdara with PDMA declaring a ‘high flood’ situation.
Resident of thinly populated historic town of Lahore spent a sleepless night and the adjacent localities have also faced unrest. Authorities say water level could rise to 200,000 cusecs by Thursday night. They placed localities on western bank of Ravi in Lahore on hight alert. Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has also evacuated thousands from upper and central Punjab during last couple of days.


Exceptionally High Flood:
Chenab River at Qadirabad Headworks and at Khanki Headworks. Over 900,000 cusecs inflows at Qadirabad and over 800,000 cusecs outflows at Khanki.
Sutlej River at Ganda Singh Wala near Kasur.
Authorities on Wednesday night warned that Qadirabad Headworks might collapse. If damaged, Hafizabad and Mandi Bahauddin could face severe damages.
Qadirabad Barrage on River Chenab in centre of Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin and Hafizabad districts of Punjab was built for irrigation purposes and to divert flood. The headworks was completed in 1967, three years after the Indus Water Treaty between Pakistan and India.
Pakistan Metrological Department:
Met office predicts moderate rainfall over the upper catchment of all the rivers of Pakistan from tomorrow , August 29. Rains may enhance from moderate to heavy the next day, August 30, it says.
FFD Lahore Latest Flood Situation in Ravi, Chenab and Sutlej:
Exceptionally high flood level will continue in Sutlej at Ganda Singh Wala near Kasur, and downstream, because of release of water from Indian dams.
River Chenab will face exceptionally high flood level at Trimmu on tomorrow evening, August 29.
Chenab at Panjnad might face very high flood level on September 2.
River Indus will at Guddu and Sukkur will witness very high flood on September 4 and September 5.
River Ravi at Balloki to face exceptionally high flood level during next 24 hours.
