The Sindh government has announced that schools in Karachi will remain closed on Wednesday, August 19.
Geo TV has reported the development. Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon has said that all the government and private schools will remain closed.
The provincial government has issued the notification, announcing the holiday. The schools will remain closed due to heavy rains in Sindh’s capital. The port city has witnessed heavy rainfall on Tuesday as Met Office predicted more rains on Tuesday night and on Wednesday.

Pakistan Metrological Department recorded rainfall in Karachi different areas as follows: Gulshan-i-Hadeed recorded the highest level of rain at 145 millimetres. Karachi Airport Old Area: 138mm. PAF Masroor Base 75mm, Orangi Town 66.2mm and Bahria Town 4.8mm. Keamari 137mm, Jinnah Terminal 135mm, University Road 132mm, Saadi Town 123mm. Defence Housing Authority Phase VII 121mm, PAF Base Faisal 114mm, Surjani Town 111.2mm, North Karachi 108.4mm, Korangi 96.6mm, Nazimabad 92mm. It recorded rainfall in Gulshan-i-Maymar as 75.2mm.
Karachi Traffic Police has advised the residents to take precautionary measures in light of the situation. It urged citizens to avoiding sudden braking, maintaining a slow speed and a safe distance from other vehicles on the road.
