Significant monsoon rains are likely in Lahore, Islamabad and parts of Pakistan on Friday and during the weekend.
Scattered heavy and at times hefty falls are also likely during the 9th spell of this monsoon, which will continue intermittently till the beginning of September.
Synoptic Situation:
Seasonal low lies over northern Balochistan. Strong monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea & the Bay of Bengal will start penetrating the upper parts of Pakistan from Friday. A westerly wave will also start affecting the upper parts of the country from tomorrow.

Under the influence of these conditions, PMD has predicted significant monsoon rains in Lahore, Islamabad and parts of Pakistan on Friday and the next two days.
Scattered heavy and at times hefty falls are likely in Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Murree and Galiyat. PMD predicts similar conditions in Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad and Lahore. It also predicts similar weather in Kasur, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Mianwali, Khushab, Sargodha, Jhang, and Toba Tek Singh. And in Nankana Sahib, Chiniot, Faisalabad and Sahiwal.
Rains with isolated heavy falls are likely in D.G. Khan, Bhakkar. In Layyah, Multan, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Rajanpur and Rahimyar Khan.
Met Office predicted widespread rains with heavy falls in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Rains with isolated heavy falls are also expected in parts of Balochistan and Sindh during the period.
Expected Temperatures:
Lahore’s maximum temperatures will likely remain between 34°C and 36°C on Friday, between 30°C and 32°C on Saturday, and between 29°C and 31°C on Sunday.
Islamabad’s maximum temperatures will likely remain between 35°C and 37°C on Friday, between 28°C and 30°C on Saturday, and between 27°C and 29°C on Sunday.
Impacts:
Widespread rains will likely generate flash floods in local nullahs/streams of Kashmir, Murree, Galliyat, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, northeast Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Bursts of heavy rains may cause urban flooding in Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Peshawar, Nowshera and Mardan. Landslides/mudslides may cause road closures in the vulnerable areas of Murree, Galiyat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
