Residents of Park View Society in Lahore have begun evacuating homes and moving belongings as floodwaters entered the posh locality.
Locals told WE Punjab that waters from Ravi River have started flowing into the society. A real estate project by Federal Minister Aleem Khan’s Vision Group, Park View, has a history controversies. It came into further limelight amid unprecedented flood situation in Ravi. Touching the western bank of Ravi near Thoker Niaz Baig Flyover, the society falls along Multan Road.
Thousands of residents of housing societies along the western bank of Ravi from Shahdara to DHA EME Sector are also facing unprecedented situation.
Reports say banks of Ravi River have been breached, flooding societies like Ravi View Garden Society, Rehman Garden, Theme Park and others. Thousands have already moved to relatives’ homes in safe areas while rest are spending restless nights for last couple of days. Authorities keep making announcements, urging people to stay vigilant.
Flood Forecasting Division:
Water flows at Qadirabad reduced. Exceptionally high floods at Shahdara, Lahore and Ganda Singh Wala, Kasur.
Inflows at Qadirabad on River Chenab dropped to 368,722 cusecs. Khanki 259,815 cusecs. Trimmu maintained a normal flow: 117,534 cusecs
Flood level at Shahdara in River Ravi: Exceptionally high, 219,770 cusecs. High flood at Balloki :105,590 cusecs. Medium flood at Jassar: 99,470 cusecs.
Sutlej River: Ganda Singh Wala : 261,053 cusecs , exceptionally high. Sulemanki registered a medium flood: 113,124 cusecs. Headworks Islam showed a low flood 52,706 cusecs.
NDMA:
14 people have been killed and four others injured in Pakistan due to monsoon rains and flood situation during last 24 hours. National Disaster Management Authority said 13 among total casualties belonged to Punjab, while one died in AJK.
Dawn reported that since flash flooding since June 26, killed 819 people and injured 1,111 in parts of Pakistan.
Punjab government spokesperson Azma Bokhari: Floods in Punjab affected 1.46 million people so far. The Punjab government has set 1,372 relief camps in affected areas. The government provided medical treatment to 6,656 people.
