India thrashed the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by nine wickets in the T20I Asia Cup match in Dubai on Wednesday evening.
Chasing a meagre 58-run target for victory, India crossed the finish line in just 6.3 overs with nine wickets in hand.
Abhishek Sharma remained the top scorer for the winning side with 30 off 16 balls, laced with two fours and three maximums. Shubman Gill contributed an unbeaten 20 off nine balls. The opener hits two fours and one six.
Suryakumar Yadav contributed seven runs with the help of one maximum. Kuldeep Yadav was named player of the match for his exceptional performance with the ball.
After being put in to bat first by Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav, Alishan Sharafu (22 off 17 balls) and captain Muhammad Waseem (19 off 22 balls) provided a solid start with a 26-run opening partnership.
UAE managed to score 41 runs in the powerplay. They scored 47/2 in the first eight overs. At that stage, Indian spinners controlled the game. They sent the last eight UAE batters back to the hut with the addition of just 10 runs in five overs. Kuldeep Yadav bagged four wickets and Shivam Dube three. Jasprit Bumrah, Varun Chakravarthy and Axar Patel got one wicket apiece.
