T20I Asia Cup: Pakistan Beat Bangladesh to Reach Final

Pakistan beat Bangladesh by 11 runs in the penultimate Super Fours match at Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai on Thursday evening to reach the T20I Asia Cup final.

Pakistan will face arch-rival India in the T20I Asia Cup final on Sunday, September 28, at Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai.

Chasing a below-par 136-run target for victory, Bangladesh reached 124/9 in their quota of 20 overs. They lost three key wickets inside the powerplay.

Shamim Hossain remained the top scorer with 30 off 25 balls, hitting two maximums. Saif Hassan contributed 18 of 15 balls with the help of one four and two sixes. Nurul Hasan and Rishad Hossain made 16 runs each. Mahedi Hasan made 11 and Tanzim Hasan Sakib made 10 runs.

Saheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf took three wickets each, and Saim Ayub two.  Mohammad Nawaz got one wicket. Match committee named Shaheen Shah Afridi player of the match for his contributions both with the bat and the ball.

Pakistan Innings:

After being put into bat first by Bangladesh skipper Jaker Ali, Pakistan kept losing wickets at regular intervals. It ended at 135/8 in the allocated 20 overs.

Mohammad Haris fetched the highest scorer position for the Green shirts with a valuable knock of 31 off 23 balls. He hit two fours and one maximum. Mohammad Nawaz chipped in with a contribution of 25 off 15 balls, laced with one four and two maximums.

Shaheen Shah Afridi hit two towering sixes in his knock of 19 off 13 balls. Skipper Salman Ali Agha also contributed 19 off 23 balls with the help of two boundaries. Faheem Ashraf made an unbeaten 14 off just nine balls to take the team score to 135/8.

Taskin Ahmed bagged three wickets, and Mahedi Hasan and Rishad Hossain two each. Mustafizur Rahman got one wicket. Rishad Hossain also took two wonderful catches to put the Green shirts on the back foot in the early part of the innings.
