The United Arab Emirates (UAE) beat Oman by 42 runs in the T20I Asia Cup Group A match in Abu Dhabi on Monday.
Chasing a challenging 173-run target for victory, Oman kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were bowled out for 130 in 18.4 overs.
Aryan Bisht remained the top scorer with 24 off 32 balls, hitting two boundaries. Skipper Jatinder Singh and Vinayak Shukla contributed 20 runs each. Shakeel Ahmed made an unbeaten 14 and Jiten Ramanandi 13 runs. No other batter could enter the double figures.
Junaid Siddique bagged four wickets, Haider Ali and Muhammad Jawadullah two each and Muhammad Rohid one. Samay Shrivastave run out for six. Team committee named Alishahn Sharafu as player of the match for his valuable contribution with the bat.
UAE Scorecard:
Put into bat first by Oman skipper Jatinder Singh, the UAE managed to reach 172/5 in the allocated 20 overs.
Skipper Muhammad Waseem was the highest scorer for the UAE with 69 off 54 balls, laced with six fours and three maximums. His opening partner, Alishan Sharafu, contributed a valuable 51 off 38 balls during an 88-run partnership. He hit seven fours and one six.
Muhammad Zohaib made 21 off 13 balls and Harshit Kaushik 19 off just eight balls. Jiten Ramanandi bagged two wickets and Hasnain Shah and Samay Shrivastava one each, while Muhammad Waseem was run out.

Meanwhile, during Sunday’s much hyped match, India crushed Pakistan by seven wickets. Chasing a below-par 128-run target for victory, India crossed the finish line with seven wickets in hand and 25 balls to spare.
