T20I Tri-Nation Series: Afghanistan Thrash UAE By 38 Runs

Afghanistan thrashed the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by 38 runs in the T20I Tri-Nation Series match at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Monday.

Afghanistan National Cricket Team vs United Arab Emirates National Cricket Team Match Scorecard:

Chasing a challenging 189 runs for victory, UAE reached 150/8 in the allocated 20 overs. Skipper Mohammad Waseem was the top scorer for the hosts with 67 off 37 balls, laced with four boundaries and six maximums.

Wicket-keeper batsman Rahul Chopra made an unbeaten 52 while Ethan D’Souza contributed 12. No other UAE batter could enter the double figures. Skipper Rashid Khan and Sharafuddin Ashraf bagged three wickets each while Fazalhaq Farooqi and Mohammad Nabi took one wicket apiece. Sharafuddin Ashraf was named player of the match for his valuable contribution with the ball.

Afghanistan Score:

Batting first, Afghanistan scored 188/4 in their quota of 20 overs. Ibrahim Zadran was the highest scorer for Afghanistan with 63, followed by Sediqullah Atal, who made 54.

Karim Janat contributed 23, Azmatullah Omarzai 20, and Darwish Rasooli 10. Muhammad Rohid and Saghir Khan took two wickets each.

It was third match of UAE Tri-Nation Series (T20I Tri-Nation Series). Earlier in two matches, played between Pakistan and Afghanistan (PAK vs AFG) and Pakistan and UAE (Pak vs UAE), Pakistan-XI beat both the rivals.

Before the much heated match against Pakistan, Afghanistan Skipper Rashid Khan had urged the cricket fans to stay calm. Ties between the two neighbours have grown tense since the Taliban took over of Afghanistan. Fans of home teams often exchange heated words during the matches. Rashid Khan had appealed to the cricket enthusiasts to enjoy the game and stay peaceful. Every team will play two matches each before the final of the tournament.

Pakistan beat Afghanistan by 39 runs in the T20I Tri-Nation series opener at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Friday.

Next day on Saturday, Pakistan beat United Arab Emirates by 31 runs. Chasing a challenging 208-run target for victory, UAE reached 176/8 in the allocated 20 overs.
