Thar Foundation has signed new agreements with leading institutions to broaden access to education and skill development for the youth in Tharparkar.
To strengthen technical training and provide international exposure, Thar Foundation has agreed with TANG Chinese Education & Technology Ltd.
The partnership will introduce advanced training modules, a dual diploma program and Chinese language courses to prepare local youth for industrial careers and cross-cultural opportunities. Thar Foundation has previously facilitated the training of 74 Thar engineers in China and sponsored six students for post-graduate studies.
In collaboration with ZABTech, Sindh’s largest private provider of technical and vocational training, Thar Foundation recently marked the graduation of 40 students from an IT program in New Sehnri Dars village. The graduates received professional certifications in web development and graphic design, which will enable them to pursue employment in both local and global markets as freelancers.
Scholarship:
Thar Foundation has also launched a merit-based scholarship at Mehran University of Engineering & Technology (MUET), Jamshoro. The scholarship will cover tuition, admission and examination fees for high-performing students. Previously, support from the Thar Foundation helped 11 MUET students complete their undergraduate degrees.
Meanwhile, the foundation in March this year said that it has provided employment opportunities to around 2,350 Tharis. It established 28 school units to ensure quality education to over 5,000 students, with over 35 percent female enrolment. The foundation provided vocational training to over 2,000 individuals. It trained people in fields of solarization, PV technology, welding and hospitality, enhancing community livelihoods. “To promote quality healthcare, Thar Foundation has set up five advanced medical facilities and three mobile health units, delivering essential services free of cost to over 300,000 patients since inception,” it had stated.
“We installed 22 Reverse Osmosis plants across Thar Block II and surrounding areas,” said the spokesperson for the foundation. The foundation stated it is supplying approximately 825,000 gallons of clean drinking water to the community each month.
