The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted torrential rains in Karachi and most parts of Sindh on Sunday evening/night and during the upcoming week with occasional gaps.
According to the synoptic situation, strong monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal penetrate Pakistan. Low Pressure System (LPA) over the Bay of Bengal will likely move westward on August 17. This will intensify this monsoon activity. A westerly wave also prevails over the country.
Under these meteorological conditions, intermittent rains (August 17 to August 22) with scattered heavy and at times hefty falls are predicted in following cities. Mithi, Tharparker, Umer Kot, Mirpurkhas, Hyderabad. Nawabshah, Karachi, Thatta, Badin, Sajawal, Tando Allayar and Tando Muhammad Khan. Sanghar, Jamshoro, Sukkur, Larkana, Khairpur and Jacobabad.
Torrential rains may cause urban flooding in Tharparker, Umer Kot, Mirpurkhas, Hyderabad, Mawabshah, Karachi, Thatta, Badin, Sajawal, Tando Allayar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Sanghar, Jamshoro, Sukkur, Larkana, Khairpur and Jacobabad.
Karachi’s maximum temperature is expected to remain between 36°C and 38°C on Monday and Tuesday.
Meanwhile, hot and humid weather prevailed in Karachi and most districts of Sindh during the last 24 hours. However, rains of varying intensities occurred in Tharparkar and parts of Sindh during the period.

Dadu and Jacobabad remained the hottest places in Sindh where maximum temperature was recorded at 42°C. The maximum temperature in Nawabshah was recorded at 41°C, and in Mohenjo-Daro and Sukkur at 40°C.
In Karachi, the maximum temperature was recorded at 37°C. Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at 82 per cent.
