More intermittent monsoon rains are predicted in Islamabad-Rawalpindi, Lahore and parts of Punjab on Tuesday evening and night, as well as on Wednesday.
Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has also predicted heavy rains at scattered places during the period.
Synoptic Situation:
Seasonal low lies over central Balochistan. Strong monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal are penetrating the country. A westerly wave is also affecting the country.
Monsoon in Punjab Northern and Central:
Partly cloudy weather with rain-wind/thundershower is expected in Rawalpindi, Murree, and Galiyat. Jhelum, Attock, Chakwal, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Sheikhupura will also experience same weather. Met Office predicted rainfall in Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Chiniot, Lahore and Kasur. Same weather predicted for Okara, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Mianwali, Sargodha, Khushab and Mandi Bahauddin.
Rains in Punjab Southern:
Partly cloudy weather with rain and wind/thundershowers is expected in Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, Kot Addu, Rahim Yar Khan, Khanpur, Multan, Sahiwal, Layyah, Bhakkar, Taunsa, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Rajanpur.
Impacts:
Heavy rains may generate flash floods in local nullahs/streams of Murree, Galiyat, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, and the Potohar region, as well as hill torrents in Dera Ghazi Khan. Downpour may cause urban flooding in Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore and Sialkot.
Heavy rains and windstorms may damage dilapidated buildings, electric poles, billboards, vehicles and solar panels. Authorities issued an advisory, urging the public, travellers and tourists to avoid unusual exposure. “Do not go to vulnerable areas and keep updated about the latest weather conditions.”
Islamabad’s maximum temperatures will likely remain between 28°C and 30°C Wednesday and between 29°C and 31°C on Thursday.
Lahore’s maximum temperatures will likely remain between 33°C and 35°C on Wednesday and between 34°C and 36°C on Thursday.
Meanwhile, intermittent rains with isolated heavy falls reported from the twin cities and parts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.
