T20I Asia Cup: Bangladesh Beat Afghanistan by Eight Runs

Bangladesh beat Afghanistan by eight runs in the T20I Asia Cup Group B match in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday evening.

Chasing a decent 155-run target for victory, Afghanistan were bundled out for 146 on the last ball of the match.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz remained the top scorer for Afghanistan with 35 off 31, hitting two fours and two sixes. Azmatullah Omarzai contributed a quickfire 30 off 16 balls. He laced with one four and three maximums to keep the hopes of achieving the target alive.

Rashid Khan made 20 off 11 balls, Gulbadin Naib 16 off 14 balls, Mohammad Nabi 15 off 15 balls. Noor Ahmad contributed 14 off nine balls.

Mustafizur Rahman bagged three wickets and Nasum Ahmed, Taskin Ahmed and Rishad Hossain two each. Karim Janat went back run out. Match committee named Nasum Ahmad as player of the match.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Bangladesh posted 154/5 in the allocated 20 overs.

Bangladesh Scorecard:

Tanzid Hasan Tamim was the highest scorer for Bangladesh with a whirlwind knock of 52 off 31 balls, laced with four fours and three big sixes. His opening partner, Saif Hassan, made 30 off 28 balls, hitting two fours and one maximum.

Towhid Hridoy contributed 26 off 20 balls, laced with one four and one six. Nurul Hasan and Jaker Ali made 12 each, while Shamim Hossain scored 11 off 11 balls. Skipper Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad bagged two wickets each, while Azmatullah Omarzai took one wicket.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka beat Hong Kong by four wickets in the T20I Asia Cup match at Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai on Monday evening.
