In a major development in the video scandal at Lady Willingdon Hospital, the Punjab government has expanded disciplinary action.
It suspended senior administrative and medical staff over the alleged recording and sharing of a patient’s video during a surgical procedure. The action follows directives issued after the incident came to light through the CM Complaint Cell.
The government has suspended Medical Superintendent and Head of Department, along with a woman medical officer, five postgraduate resident doctors, two nurses, and a hospital staff member. It directed all individuals to report to their respective departments. Earlier, the government has also suspended four lady doctors in connection with the same case.
According to official sources, someone recoded the alleged video recorded during an operation. And later circulated it, constituting a serious breach of patient privacy and medical ethics. The Punjab government, following the directions of the Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has taken swift and strict action to ensure accountability. It said the government is emphasizing zero tolerance for violations that compromise patient dignity and professional standards in healthcare institutions.
Punjab CM Governance Model Wins Recognition from IPSOS:
The globally renowned research organization IPSOS has acknowledged the governance model of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
It particularly endorsed the public relief measures implemented through the Nigahban Ramadan Bazaars.
Expressing gratitude, Maryam Nawaz Sharif stated that public service and welfare remain the government’s foremost priority. The report highlighted that over 40.6 million people visited Ramadan Bazaars. Around 33.8 million benefited from Sahulat Bazaars during the holy month. Additionally, 5.2 million citizens availed services through Sahulat on-the-go initiatives.
The findings further revealed that authorities ensured provision of essential commodities were at prices up to 40 percent lower.
The Ipsos report praised the Punjab Sahulat Bazaar Authority as a unique and exemplary welfare initiative. It noting that it has transformed traditional relief mechanisms into a modern, sustainable, and efficient model. It also emphasized transparency, operational discipline, and citizen facilitation as key strengths of the system.
