Earthquake in Lahore, Parts of Punjab, KP and Balochistan Pakistan

An earthquake struck Lahore and adjoining areas on Saturday evening, prompting residents to rush out of their homes and buildings in panic.

Earthquake tremors felt in Punjab capital and other parts of the province at evening around 6:30pm.

Meanwhile, magnitude of earthquake was recorded 5.9. The epicentre was Hindu Kush Region of Afghanistan, according to initial reports.

Social media posts suggest people in in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Mansehra, Shangla, Swat felt jolts. Similarly, residents in Chakwal, Sheikhupura, Sahiwal, Okara Jhang and Lahore also felt shocks. However, they so far have not reported any loss of life.

Initial official reports also suggest no loss of life or property due to the earthquake. However, relevant authorities were engaged in inspecting buildings.

Any earthquake-related damage could be reported to the PDMA (Provincial Disaster Management Authority) helpline 1129. The PDMA’s provincial control room and district emergency operation centres across Punjab remain operational round the clock.

Dawn reported, different cities in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad felt an earthquake on Saturday evening. It occurred hours after two quakes jolted Balochistan province of Pakistan, as per daily English.

Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) stated earthquake struck Pakistan at 6:35pm. It described its epicentre as Hindu Kush region, with a magnitude of 5.9 and a depth of 178 kilometres.

Balochistan Earthquake:

Meanwhile, reports say Balochistan recorded three earthquakes on Saturday. Officials have reported that three persons sustained injuries due to earthquake.

“At least three people were injured after two earthquakes of magnitude 5.2- and 4.3- jolted parts of Balochistan.”

First earthquake hit Barkhan district on Saturday and then people in different cites felt shocks.

Different cities felt shocks of third earthquake of magnitude 4.2 at 8:30pm. Its epicentre located 50km northwest of Kohlu, having a depth of 12km.

The depth of the 5.2-magnitude earthquake, which struck at 8:06am, was 19 kilometres. The PDMA and the National Seismic Monitoring Centre (NSMC) said its epicentre was located 52 kilometres north-east of Barkhan..
